We Sold Our House! The Best Change We Didn’t Know We Needed
2024 was turbulent in more than one way, and on the home front, we suddenly found ourselves with an empty nest that felt way too big for just the two of us. Suddenly, this didn’t feel like our forever home anymore. The only projects I had left were big-ticket items, and we had to decide if they were even worth doing. As much as we loved this house, we realized that it was time for a new chapter.
At the end of October, I started to paint and prep to have the house near perfect to list in the spring. Our realtor and dear friend, Andrea, helped me with a short list of things to fix and talked me out of some changes she didn’t deem necessary, and for that, I am eternally grateful!
That being said, there were still three rooms with wallpaper and kitchen cabinets with a colorful paint finish. We realized that was not going to be to everyone’s liking, but we hoped, prayed, and took the risk.
Spoiler alert: not everyone liked it, but those who did were madly in love with it! We had our first offer two hours after the listing went live, and it was above the asking price! Unfortunately, that offer fell through, but it wasn’t long before the right buyers came along.
Let’s take a last home tour…

If you have been reading the blog for a while, you will notice that the personal touches have been dialed back a bit, and you might see some “never-seen-before” spaces that were never shown because they weren’t fortunate enough to get makeovers.

The list of kitchen projects is so long, it needs its own post. I’m ashamed to say that that post has been sitting in my drafts for the longest time! (I’ll put the link here when it is published.)

What We Had In Mind For Our Next Chapter
- A smaller home
- A smaller mortgage
- A slightly older house with a bit of character and reno potential
- An older neighborhood with mature trees
- The benefits of city living that we didn’t have in The Foothills
- Living closer to our children and friends
Did we find all that? Yes!
In my next post, I will share everything about our new home. Stay tuned!
Can’t wait to see news on your next chapter and what your plans are for your new home!
