“Coastal grandmother” is a lifestyle, not a person. To embrace this aesthetic, you don’t have to be a grandmother or own a coastal cottage.
I mean, it won’t hurt to live the dream somewhere in Maine or Nantucket, but it’s not a prerequisite!

The term “Coastal Grandmother” is still relatively new and has been gaining popularity since April 2022. It was coined by a beautiful young lady on TikTok to tongue in cheek describe her style. Her account name is @lexnicoleta (you can find a link at the bottom of this post).
Gen Z loves this style, but there are coastal grandmothers from every generation.
It is preppy but not pretentious. It’s sophisticated but uncomplicated.
